New Jersey Ave, one of three remaining view corridors of the 1791 L’Enfant plan for Washington DC, is the focus for developing a work of art at the intersection of New Jersey Ave and US 695. CAPITOL FUGUE celebrates the vision inherent in the L’Enfant plan and its relevance to the contemporary Capitol City that Washington, DC, is today. The work of art includes a five-hundred-foot fence and a large entry gateway. That frames the view to the capitol. This intersection deserves a bold gesture that marks the site as a view corridor of historical significance.
